If you're here, I'd imagine it is because you are longing for a deeper healing. A healing that you can feel from within the depths of your being. A healing that is authentic and reaches as far back as you can remember.  A healing that is not limited by time and space. If this is what you are longing for, you may be in exactly the right place.

I'm Kathryn Dietzway, LCSW-BACS, Trauma therapist specializing in therapy that focuses on mind-body healing not limited by how many years have passed since your heart was first wounded, not limited by how much you do or do not remember.  Trauma lives primarily in the unconscious mind-body, and the methods I utilize are made for body-based trauma. I provide traditional and extended therapy sessions through a trauma-informed, eco-somatic lens. An eco-somatic lens means we will be prioritize connection to mind, body and Earth throughout the therapy process, including breathwork, mindfulness-based somatic inquiry, visualizations, nature meditations and exposure, among many other practices. Intensive therapy sessions provide an opportunity to engage with deeply healing work without the time restraints of traditional weekly, hour long sessions. In these intensives, we are able to go beneath the surface to find, release and heal the trauma that has been frozen in your nervous system for years, maybe decades.

I am an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and EMDR Certified Therapist, which means I have obtained advanced training, education and consultation in one of the top treatments for trauma in the world--Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy. EMDR through an eco-somatic lens supports you in healing not only the mind, but the mind AND body. Trauma isn't about what you necessarily know; it's about what your body remembers unconsciously. Together, we will explore your unconscious mind in order to move past blocks to healing and to experience the growth you are longing for.

About

Eco-Somatic

Trauma Therapy

Woman meditating

My approach to eco-somatic trauma therapy is informed by training and education in a combination of evidence-based modalities, including EMDR, Hakomi Mindful Somatic Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Embodiment, Somatic Psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Ecotherapy/Ecopsychology.

Eco-Somatic trauma therapy is a way of being with self, client and the surrounding ecosystem. It's an approach that requires letting go of rigid thinking and instead sinking into Being. Even though trauma therapies, especially EMDR, are protocol based, this doesn't mean we cannot include the mind, body and Earth connection in the process. Through eco-somatics, we build an honest connection to mind, body and our eco-system, acknowledging traumas experienced not only by our own nervous system but for all nervous systems AND more than human beings on Earth. This approach is aligned with values around social justice and decolonization.

If you are a therapist hoping to begin EMBODYING an eco-somatic approach to EMDR, I invite you to check out my training tab! If you are a client hoping to pursue healing through Eco-Somatic Trauma therapy, reach out to me.

Mission

To provide trauma survivors with an opportunity to experience the deep healing they've been longing for with a holistic mind, body and Earth informed approach.

To provide trauma therapists with a training experience that allows them to grow beyond the boundaries of their office walls, in a way that allows them to connect deeply to self, clients and the Earth.

Vision

Trauma healing through a lens that incorporates the mind, body and Earth connection. I support you in identifying, releasing and renegotiating the impact of trauma through eco-somatic methods including movement, breathwork, body scans, nature connection, EMDR and more.

Eco-Somatic EMDR trainings are delivered in nature-based settings so that you can learn through embodiment rather than memorization. Eco-Somatic EMDR is an embodied way of providing therapy. Trainings combine lecture and experiential practice.
